Back in 2014, when Bumble buzzed onto the dating-app scene, they changed game by letting women call the shots on who they do or do not want to interact with (catch the inspiring origin story from CEO and founder Whitney Wolfe on Girlboss Radio!) And judging by the 12.5 million people who have jumped on board since, you can bet that it’s not going anywhere anytime soon—-especially considering BumbleBizz, a networking version of the app, is slated to hit phones this fall.
In the meantime, it just so happens that we’ve got some insider advice from official Bumble Profile Doctors on five simple things you can do to make sure your profile is optimized to make match after match after match. Because as it turns out, users with the most matches have an exact correlation to how filled out their profile is, and you know what? It’s super easy. Check it out:
You get to upload up to six photos, so upload six photos.
Fill in your bio. Integrate Spotify so everyone knows how awesome your taste in music is (or how endearingly un-awesome it is, whatevs).
Speaking of photos: Make sure the first one is a solo picture and it’s one of your recent faves–approachable and representative of you.
If you want a group photo because you love your friends (or because it’s just a super fly picture of you), make it one of the last photos so the person viewing it knows which one you are. Show your personality with activities, pets and your personal style. If you love the outdoors, show a photo of you rock climbing; if you love the beach or reading a good book at a coffee shop, show this through your photos. Also: loved ones in your photos is fine, but be wary of showing someone who could potentially look like your significant other (a sibling, cousin or friend).
Re: Your bio: Be clear about what you’re looking for.
The more you showcase your personality, the higher the probability of a successful match. Come up with a witty one-liner, describe your job, your goals, weekend plans, etc. Think of your bio as a status, like “Here for SXSW; let’s hang out!”
Once BumbleBizz launches, you’re going to want a professional photo (save the beach pics for your BFF!)
If your work is visual, you can include that in some of your pictures. A photo of your most up to date resume is a good idea.
Play off the other person’s bio.
Send a GIF or simply just say “hey!” Once you feel good about your profile, get out there and make the first move!
