                        SHEBA & GENEVIVE

Sheba Zaidi and Genevive Savundranayagam bond over a love of wine (they even started a wine tour company together), far-flung travels and great stories. In early 2020, the duo left their respective corporate careers to launch Mahara and their first product, The Human Being Journal. Given the timing, the journal, which is filled with guided thought prompts, became a direct response to the pandemic and a way to help others go inward, gain perspective and live more fulfilled lives .

For the pair, the “aha” moment came from watching a webinar with Oprah Winfrey and Echart Tolle on what it means to be a human being. “The human side speaks to what we do in our life — our outer selves and earthly identifiers of success. The being side refers to the true essence of who we are — timeless and formless. It is only when we bridge both worlds that we can unleash our full potential. This was a pivotal moment for us,” shares the pair.

To date, Zaidi and Savundranayagam have been shouted out by Oprah (a true full-circle moment) as well as Jessica Alba, They’ve also gotten press from The New York Times and Forbes. But they’re most proud of being able to give back. “We help people manage mental health and provide perspective, and a percentage of all journal sales goes towards supporting global mental health organizations.”
