MARY YOUNG

A true pioneer of the body-positive lingerie movement, Mary Young was making women feel comfortable in their own skin back when the Victoria’s Secret show was still getting high ratings. “I designed a five-piece collection of soft lingerie that didn't feature any underwire, pads or shaping aspects as my final thesis collection in fashion school,” she recalls. Six months later, she had her own eponymous brand, rooted in the mission of self-love and acceptance.

All the products are sustainably made in Canada, and Young also operates the Self Love Club, which opens up the conversation around self-love and acceptance through a journal as virtual and IRL events. “The club is not buying a product, the club is you and your attitude,” says Young. “Something as small as getting dressed can be used as an act of self-love. Knowing our customers and community are choosing to celebrate their natural shape and define sexy for themselves is the fuel I use to keep going.”
