Can Anyone Get “Glass Skin” With The Right Product?

I’m not sure when I first heard about the “glass skin” beauty trend, but I didn’t have trouble imagining what it looked like. Glass is smooth, clear, and shiny. However, imagining skin that looks like that seemed like just another fancy way of describing a skin ideal that’s been around for ages: clear and poreless-looking.

When I dived into the topic, I found that it’s a pretty common beauty ideal in Korea (the country that also introduced the West to the seven-step skincare method). So, when I received a sample of the Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum, I felt my time had come to test-drive a new product that coincides with a new beauty trend.

The skincare quest to attain the pore-less, dewy, and plump look of infant’s skin probably dates back to…I don’t know—time immemorial. But, can anyone get the so-called glass skin look? And, can a product like Peach & Lily’s help me get close to it?

My skin type

I’m prone to breakouts from stress and hormones (and, OK, the occasional junk food meal). But all in all, my skin is usually pretty clear, though it does dry out, thanks to the acne-fighting products I use (and probably all the coffee). Aside from having a zit-free face, the key to the glass skin look is a dewy, glow-from-within look that makes you look like you’re wearing highlighter—except you’re not.

How the serum works

To achieve this, your skin needs to be fully hydrated. The Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum has a cocktail of ingredients that include: peach extract, niacinamide, East Asian mountain yam, madecassoside, peptides, and hyaluronic acid. According to the company, the potent mix is designed to help “hydrate, calm, brighten and firm skin.”

The peach extract has vitamins, minerals and fatty acids to help keep skin firm and radiant-looking. Niacinamide, meanwhile, works to downplay any inflammation of the skin while helping brighten skin’s overall tone. The East Asian mountain yam extract works to tackle flakiness and the hyaluronic acid complex helps deliver extra hydration.

Here’s how it worked on my skin

The serum itself if a fast-absorbing formula. I’ve been using it for two and a half-weeks and usually use two pumps of the product. I pat it into my face and notice it’s just a tad sticky but it quickly absorbs into the skin. I’ve noticed that since incorporating it into my skincare routine (usually after a morning shower), my skin looks just a bit shiny and reflective.

In the weeks since I first began using it, I’ve also noticed the size of my pores has gotten smaller and my dark spots (post zit-phase) disappear much more quickly. In short: my skin looks healthier.

I was also sent two of the other new releases from Peach & Lily that are pretty fab. The first is the Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream. The first thing you’ll notice is the green (matcha) color of the moisturizer. It’s designed to give skin a heavy dose of antioxidants that help fight free radicals, but my favorite part of it is probably that it never spills. (That’s a win when you’re in a hurry and slathering on products in the AM!)

My second favorite is Peach & Lily Pure Beam Luxe Oil. It contains a mixture of antioxidants, vitamins and fatty acids. It helps to balance out your oil production and helps gives that final “glow” to your skin. I usually add a drop or two immediately after the Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum and call it a day.

The end result? Skin that has an itty bit of reflective sheen. And that’s as close enough to glass skin as I’ll get, while still eating junk food. Win!
